Annie Liu

PIANO

Annie Liu harbors a profound passion for music that has guided her entire life towards the study and teaching of piano. From a tender age, she embarked on this musical journey, accumulating over three decades of experience. Her path has been strewn with a rich tapestry of theoretical knowledge and artistic prowess, enhancing her teaching skills and igniting her limitless musical imagination. As a seasoned artist, Annie is celebrated for her spontaneity and precision, qualities that have deepened her insight and understanding of music profoundly.

In her illustrious career, Annie has refined her teaching methodology, working with students young and old, and customizing her approach to nurture each individual’s unique abilities. She takes pride in creating an encouraging learning environment, adopting suitable techniques to foster ongoing progress and enhancement in her students.

Annie’s professional journey is marked by notable recognitions and certifications, evidencing her commitment to her craft and her students. She holds a Higher Education Teacher Certificate, has been certified in GRADE 6 MUSIC THEORY by The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and has received the International Federation of Artists ILA Piano Supervisor SG10 Certification, among other achievements. She has also served as an Invigilator for ILA of Greater China Piano, a Director of the Piano Society of the Yunnan Musicians Association, and a Jury Member for numerous prestigious piano competitions.

Her educational milestones include certifications in advanced piano grades, the Dalcroze teaching method, Body Percussion Teacher Training, and attendance at esteemed workshops and masterclasses, such as the Yundi Li International Piano Master Class. Furthermore, she has been an influential figure in several piano arts festivals and competitions across China, contributing her expertise as a jury member and fostering musical excellence in the next generation of pianists.

Annie is also preparing for the Dip ABRSM exam for the Royal Conservatory of Music Performer’s Diploma, a testament to her never-ending pursuit of musical mastery. As a member of the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC) since 2023, her extensive experience and professional accolades underscore her unwavering dedication to cultivating talented musicians and sharing the beauty and joy of music with the world.

Debra Innis

PIANO & VIOLIN

Debra Innis is an accomplished music teacher with a rich background in both education and performance. She began her teaching career at two music studios before the COVID-19 pandemic and made a notable return to teaching at the Irvine Art and Music studio in September 2021. Over the years, Debra has been instrumental in preparing numerous students for their recitals, showcasing her dedication to their musical growth.

Her academic journey in music started with a major in music from Trinity College, followed by a minor in music from the University of Illinois. With over 35 years of teaching experience, Debra has honed her skills to proficiently teach students from beginners to upper intermediate levels. She is particularly noted for her expertise in Music Theory and her ability to perform in orchestras and small groups, primarily with the violin. Debra also excels as a private dinner party performer, where her talents provide a sophisticated backdrop for various events.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Debra is deeply engaged with her hobbies, which include playing the piano—especially on her grand piano—and the violin. She finds joy in playing Mazas violin duets and takes pride in her skill to evaluate and customize music to fit the unique needs of most students. While her main passion lies in classical music, she has a broad appreciation for various genres, with jazz being the sole exception. Debra’s extensive experience and personal dedication to music make her a valued educator and performer in the music community.
